Thanksgiving Programs At Hinkley And Harper Lake

Hinkley and Harper Lake schools held Thanksgiving events with field trips, shows, and a Learn by doing spirit. Students toured Hill's Jersey Dairy, saw milking, rode in a boat, enjoyed milk and apples, and returned home. Harper Lake hosted a medicine show with samples, songs, and a luncheon set by the Woman's Club. A school service featured Thanksgiving songs and a tidy party at Hinkley with a children’s party and a take home menu. teachers Miss Myers and Miss Linn noted travel plans for the break.

Minneola Social Notes Include Visits and Holiday Fun

Arthur T. Evans of Sierra Madre visited Minneola as a caller. J. Foree Edwards and a friend toured Oro Grande and checked on former neighbors. Thanksgiving week saw H. P. Jordan with family in Hollywood and a trip to Los Angeles by J Taylor, F S Shields, and kin. Miss Smith and Miss McCue hosted a Minneola school party with luncheon, games, music, popcorn, and toasted marshmallows. Mr. and Mrs. Peacock with their four sons stayed at the Russei place from Alhambra and planned to rent Mrs. Grey's house for about a year. The boys have not fully recovered from a serious bout of paumen’a.

Bold daylight robbery at Tour's Garage yields cash and checks

Saturday a theft occurred at Tour's Garage when the cash till was opened and 145 dollars in checks and currency disappeared. Ed Burke was at lunch, Pete Ring secured the office, then left for his shoe shop. On return the till was open and 40 dollars in checks and currency remained. No suspects or traces found.

Local health visit and homebound plans noted

Winter weather sees Mr. Peacock and his daughter staying for health reasons and planning to return home in about a month. McNutt of Glendale reports a new well on land one mile east of Minneola with H. L. Mellon of Newberry securing the contract.

Jack Cunningham killed a lynx on the Bert Wilson ranch Monday. C W Chidester federal inspector is in Barstow this week inspecting locomotives at the roundhouse. Mr. and Mrs. John Chambers have as their guests Mr. Chambers' mother and father from Anaheim. Little Ralph Frilot returned with his grandmother, Mrs A A True, this week, from Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs H L Miller motored into Los Angeles Wednesday to enjoy Thanksgiving Day with their boys. Margaret Henderson, mother of L J Henderson, returned home this week after a two months visit in Los Angeles.
