Los Angeles reports 32 Santa Fe auditor’s office employees including 10 veterans staged an Armistice Day walkout when a general office holiday was not declared. Auditor L E Jones said they will not be readmitted as a body.
The Cow Testing Association of the San Bernardino County Farm Bureau reports valuable results from the first month. Top butterfat producers include a Holtstein from A Gregory Redlands herd with 73.92 pounds in thirty days and a Jersey from M Worden San Jacinto with 72.50 pounds. Herd honors go to A Gregory with 32.46 pounds per cow.
Tax collector C. D. Van Wis urges taxpayers to request statements immediately as mail delays make late payments risky. He warns receipts may not reach banks or addresses reliably, noting over half of bills depend on them. Taxpayers have until December 1 to pay.

Indianapolis reports coal strike ending after 18 hour talks with miners and operators pledging to return to work. Secretary Wilson plans immediate talks to set a new wage scale for coal workers and operators.

Armistice Day observances include a dance at Fletcher Hall and post events. other items cover mining talks, price increases on paper supplies, and local marriages.
Mrs William McFadyen hosted a Tuesday afternoon gathering in honor of Mrs Will Boyle who heads to Indianapolis for an extended visit. Guests joined a sewing contest creating one hour thirty minute gifts for the traveler with prizes awarded for prettiest article and most useful gift.
Thirty married couples organize a social dancing club in Barstow to beat coal famine. They meet every Friday in Victory Hall dancing from seven to eleven thirty, with a banquet planned at Harvey House as funds allow and refreshments monthly.
Mrs William Darnell hosted a Wednesday bridge party where Mrs George Deskins captured first honors for the highest score. Five o clock luncheon followed with guests including Mrs Wm McFadyen Mrs John Sloan Mrs Saron Shotwell Mrs R M Benedict Mrs W Boyle Mrs W W Bagby and Mrs George Desking. Next Wednesday Mrs R M Benedict to entertain the newly organized Bridge Club with members listed.

Edward Voigt the sole voter in favor.
