Formation of California State Federation of Farm Bureaus

California farmers form a statewide federation at Berkeley with thirty delegates from thirty counties representing about fifteen thousand members. San Bernardino County hosts around five hundred members in fifteen Farm Bureau centers with centers linked to the state board to address marketing education drainage soil and legislation. The federation plans to send delegates to Chicago for a national bureau and stresses nonpolitical social education and producer consumer understanding. Measure To Change Present Vaccination Law Proposed

Plans to submit a constitutional amendment at the November 1920 general election to prohibit vaccination as a condition for admission to schools or for employment were announced by the Public School Protective League at its annual meeting. Well Known Stock Man Dies of Heart Failure

John Young a long time stockman and miner in the desert district died of heart failure. He was found at Twans ranch near Camp Cady on October 31 after exhibiting desert horses at Riverside County fair. Funeral arrangements were set in Barstow with interment in Barstow Cemetery. He leaves a brother Edward and sister Mrs John Johnson in Rock Springs Wyoming.

Yermo Baby Buried in Barstow Cemetery

Henry Dickerson Voissey infant son of Mr and Mrs Harry Voissey died at home in Yermo on November 2 from pneumonia at six months and twenty seven days. Funeral services were led by Rev Ray and the remains interred in Barstow cemetery Tuesday. Neighbors express sympathy as this is the family’s second infant loss in two years. Many friends accompanied the parents to Barstow.

Returned soldiers form Barstow Post of the American Legion and plan an annual Armistice Day ball on Tuesday November 11 Fletcher's Hall booked for the event with posters to be issued announcing the ball.

Tragic Collision Claims Mrs. Hanf in Cosy Dell Area

Mrs. Fannie Hanf of Cosy Dell was killed when a train struck the stalled car she and her husband and grandchild were pushing off the tracks at Highland and Mt. Vernon in San Bernardino. Mr Hanf survived. two sons remain, including Joseph a Cajon ranger. The family ran a watering trough and hydrant business for travelers on Cajon Pass road.

Telegram reports the death of Miss Gladys Batlard in Cottonwood Arizona after the Sallard family moved there for health reasons early this year. The child had been treated in Barstow and briefly improved before the move. Mrs Maude Ballard and siblings were with her at the deathbed.

Vast Westward Auto Trek Sees 1500 Cars To Southern California

The Automobile Club of Southern California reports more than 1500 automobiles bound for Southern California via transcontinental routes, with hundreds more daily. Cars from 26 states, 109 from outside California and 22 with California plates observed within 160 miles between Barstow and Needles. Garages and parking space along the route are overflowing as visitors call at club offices for visiting licenses and road conditions.

Local School Census Seeks Information on All Minors

The November 1919 census, required by law, targets males born on or after November 1 1898 and females born on or after November 1 1901. Registrar Mrs Ella Pitcher will visit homes to collect family names country of birth father and mother minor children details including birth, race, school attendance, employment, and any disabilities to improve educational opportunities. Citizens are asked to cooperate and inform neighbors to ease the registrar’s work.
