New Homes Rise Across Barstow District

In Barstow, Daggett and Yermo new dwellings surge on hillsides and alleys as garages are carved and structures rise. Walter Alf of Daggett contracts two concrete Barstow houses while local builders from all three towns stay busy. Adobe homes remain common though Americans are drafting many adobe plans. An adobe cottage of Dr Lisle Graham in Newberry is noted for comfort, and a two story adobe residence on the Verde ranch near Victorville stands out. A pair of concrete houses by L C Powell rise on a hillside facing an alley, which may soon be called a court as more homes line the street from the Southern Sierras sub station to Third street. An under construction garage at the X Blank residence, an apartment on Willett property, and seven room Barstow homes on Frederick street add to the development, with Daggett officer Jim Lucas also building a four room cement block home to be finished soon.
