Soldiers from the Mexican border miss a train at Barstow and beg engineer A A Turner to save the honor of the army. Turner drives his car to chase the engine, reaching Daggett Otis and overtaking the train, then delivering the troops back to safety.
The third quarterly meeting of the California Development Board will be held in San Bernardino on November 24-25. The program focuses on legislation and state development with prominent speakers and discussion. Local hosts plan entertaining features to attract visitors to southern California for a potentially highly successful gathering.

The Dry Meeting at the Free Methodist Church on Wednesday night drew a large, enthusiastic crowd for the prohibition cause. Addresses by Purviance Davis Bell and Hopper preceded a unanimous vote to support the Stainless Flay next Tuesday.
Roy Elson, sought on a felony charge in Needles, was arrested at two oclock yesterday morning by Deputy Sheriff J E Harris. Harris, alerted for a vehicle from Needles, spotted Elson promptly without aid of special equipment.

It defines eastern Atlantic, Mississippi valley, and Pacific corridors with northern breeding and southern wintering zones.
