Mother and Father in a Complex Family Tale
A diarist narrator aged near fifteen reflects on a stalled love plot, mother suspicions, and a crowded domestic stage. She details Aunt Jane, Mrs Darling, and Miss Jane’s social tensions, while noting grocer Mr Livingstone and other young men. A planned sequel teases further drama as events unfold across Santa Barbara and California connections.
