National Old Trail Through Barstow to Get Government Aid

Delegates from Barstow reported progress at the good roads convention in Phoenix. The Dunn bill passed in Washington, authorizing 65 million dollars for next year and 75 million the year after for road building. State and local officials urge immediate work on the Barstow to Needles stretch. State bonds and federal funds are expected to finance the project. The National Old Trail, with extensive hard surfacing now under way, aims to become a dominant transcontinental route with cooler summer travel and high surface completion.
