Turner Ranch Victim Ends Life In Victorville

The funeral for Robert Turner aged 2 who shot himself with a rifle on the Turner ranch near Victorville was held Tuesday at 2 pm in Victorville. An inquest by Under Sheriff McLain found the death injury was self-inflicted. Turner, a California pioneer born in Pennsylvania, arrived via the Nicaragua route in 1864 and again in 1877, contributing to Victorville’s development with a hotel store and post office.

The Angel Wrecked The Angel, the crack train of the Santa Fe between Los Angeles and San Francisco, was wrecked between Hink ley and Barstow about 4 a m Wednesday. No one was hurt. One journal on the engine broke causing a derailment. A wrecker restored the train and service resumed about 9 30 a m.

Aeroplane Lands at Needles After San Diego Flight

R B Lewis, aviator with Aero Club of America, landed here at noon Saturday after a San Diego to Washington leg. He refueled, checked the engine, then left Fenner at 4 20 pm to cool the motor. He continued to Plute four miles away at 4 28 pm with engine trouble and went to Needles for repairs.

Arizona Man Arrested in Barstow Over Vehicle Dispute

Arizona man A D Lynd, arriving in Barstow to return to Tombstone, was involved in a mortgaged fundtion from Douglas. Lynd, claiming he sought his wife in Los Angeles, took the car with a balance due, and may settle. Deputy Sheriff Ed Harris wired from Tombstone to Victoriaville to arrest him.

First Annual Ball A Success In Mojave Valley Elks Lodge

The Mojave Valley Elks held their first annual ball at Sloan's Hall in Barstow last Friday night. Attendees represented from San Bernardino to Ludlow filled the hall with Elk colors, drama, songs, and dancing into the early hours. The San Bernardino Lodge No. 836 supplied the music, and an entertainment committee from Barstow, Ludlow, Vermo, Victorville coordinated the event, praised as a memorable early Elks milestone.
