Auto Tourists From East Visit Barstow in April

Agricultural commission reports from Daggett and Yermo stations show 15,107 travelers in 4,917 autos entered Southern California in April via National Old Trails and Arrowhead Trails. Daggett logged 9,045 people in 2,879 cars. Yermo counted 6,062 in 2,088. Foreign plates totaled 1,793 at Daggett, with 1,086 California plates returning. California cars were dominant at Yermo with 1,042 California and 996 foreign plates.

Summer Uniforms Adopted for California Traffic Officers

California Highway Patrol officers at Daggett and Yerba stations may wear lightweight summer uniforms this season to stay cool. Coats breeches and caps remain the same material and colors as regulation gear, but lighter weight. Officers on duty without coats may wear the regulation shirt breeches cap and belt with a bow tie in place of a four in hand, and belt with or without shoulder straps.

The five car Auto mobile Club of Southern California caravan paused south of Nogales after weather forecasts warned heavy tropical rains would make southern Mexico and Central America impassable in summer. The party will resume exploration in the dry season, charting routes from Mexico City to Vera Cruz and Acapulco, with plans to return via Laredo.
