Tourists flock to the Mission Play in San Gabriel as the show hits its 1500th performance last Tuesday, March 16, marking the longest running American play or pageant with four years eight months and five days of continuous performances. Chin Chin Chow in London and Our Boys in England came closest to this record.

The growing gas line shortage is evident as Standard and Union Oil of California stop selling gasoline coupon books to employers and the public. Gasoline is shipped from eastern markets, easing supply temporarily, but spring shipments may halt, risking a heavy California shortage unless production rises. Yesterday Barstow saw gasoline at 30 cents a gallon.
Office of the Farm Advisor reports that Dean Van Norman of Davis failed to arrive at the Barry ranch near Daggett due to a railroad wreck near Summit. He regrets missing the afternoon meeting with Barstow Daggett Hinkley Farm Center and hopes to arrange a future gathering in the county.
Sunshine Oil Corporation of Texas 2 in Barstow stopped selling Victory Lots in Shield near the Pecos area after several thousand dollars were invested. Weyle sent a representative to investigate. Nels Anderson praised the Pecos field on returning to Barstow from Texas.
The Home Department will meet at Mrs J L Crooks home on March 90 to make pretty hats for members. Members are urged to bring discarded hats and children’s hats will be colored reshaped and trimmed. Mrs Mitchell chairs the event.
