The Automobile Club of Southern California outlined extensive sign posting to mark Death Valley and lateral routes for safe night travel. T. C. Murphy buys the property interests of Mrs Preston in Ludlow. After forty years on the Desert she plans a trip to France, her homeland, having become independently wealthy and charitable to France during the war. Residents and travelers fondly called her Mother Preston.

Death claims J Guy Howe after appendicitis in Barstow

J Guy Howe 40 arrived March 13 from Carl Oklahoma with wife and four children and died last Thursday of an appendicitis attack. He had stayed with his brother W E Howe west of Barstow while seeking relocation to California. The body was shipped east Sunday for burial at their former home, accompanied by the widow and children, and by Mrs Howe’s brother E W Tullam who arrived from Oklahoma. W E Howe receives community sympathy for this bereavement amid recent family losses.

Home Department Meeting At Mrs Crooke's Home

The Home Department of the Farm Bureau met at Mrs. 8. J. Crooke’s home Tuesday with nineteen attendees from Hinkley and Barstow Center. The room resembled a perfect hat factory as women worked quietly. Miss Decker impressed as a lively demonstrator and Miss Richardson, the agent, promised another engaging meeting at Hinkley next month chaired by Mrs. Mitcuey.
