Gold Finds Spur Rand District Prospecting Boom
Miners Gerblick Phillips and Anderson sunk Mabel S. shaft to 60 feet and struck a 14 inch vein rich in gold. Leasers Sanderson and Shea seek a hoist for a 40 foot shaft south of the Bender mine. George Benko waters the ground, three locally raised boys find ore on Tex Lovet’s lease, while Kine Solomon mine activity and a Consolidated Mills run showcase rising mining labor across Rand and surrounding camps. Potash and borax output from the region climbs, with new Yucca Grove camp near Halloran Springs drawing capital and development plans from Salt Lake interests.
