The First Congregational Church of Long Beach California hosted Rev and Mrs Isaac McRae of Barstow with an afternoon reception and heard their talk on Barstow needs. A Sunday meeting drew 1800 worshippers as Dr Booth announced a Barstow church fund with an initial $1000 and plans for further support from the congregation.

Barstow Woman's Club Meets For Talks On Trees And Water

The Barstow Woman's Club held its regular meeting on Tuesday afternoon with talks on preserving Giant redwood trees by Mrs. Wmn A Knaggs, and water's value and uses from Federation News by Mrs. James H Leggitt. A reading on American novels versus English fiction by Mrs. B F Gouldin was also presented. The club plans a board party at the Antler Club on the evening of the 15th, and the next meeting is scheduled for March 22.

Injured Highway Employee Improves After Blast

George W Walden foreman of a state highway maintenance crew returned home to 1029 Spruce Street San Bernardino after a dynamite blast last December. He lost sight in his right eye and his left eye is impaired. Walden and Leon L Batchler were clearing a charge that misfired, flinging them about 30 feet. Hospital treatment at Riverside Community Hospital continues with hopes for partial left eye restoration after three months.
