Barstow Improvements and Local Construction Plans
Barstow sees blocks cast for new residences on adjoining lots and a cement reservoir planned east of town to serve irrigation and swimming needs. Haws will install a California rotary pump for 700 to 900 gallons per minute, with home improvements and new rooms at the Haws residence. Mrs. Gilham’s five acres east of town is fenced, with two peach trees surviving drought. A second five acres for sale at 50 dollars per acre adjoins on the county highway. Ed Lazenby expands with fruit trees and hogs for the market. New 12 foot awnings for the telephone office and improvements to Barstow Union High School facilities are noted, along with a paint update for Central Garage and town-wide calls to improve curb appeal.
