Yermo Notes On Cattle Lease Town Growth And Road Plans
Correspondent reports Canell and Stone Cattle Company leasing the Camp Cady Reservation for five years from Mr and Mrs Williams of Yermo. The town welcomes new agent Lichty and family. Morley works on a turkey-raising ranch adjacent to Yermo, and the pool hall changes ownership to Lockwood and Carter. Mutual Water pumps 80 acres of barley for Geth of Los Angeles. A highway through Yermo shortens the Arrowhead Trail route by about 80 miles, connecting to the old immigrant Mormon road and increasing cross-desert travel via Salt Lake City and the Lincoln highway.

Rotary drill at Painted Hills well makes rapid progress
Secretary Cecil H. Phillips reports work at Painted Hills No 1 with a new rotary drill is advancing faster than expected. Soft sea sand requires mud casing, and a shipment of mud from Kern County will allow uninterrupted depth as nearly a hundred leaseholders observe. The Barker well nearby nears derrick completion and a Clark engine powers the rig.
