State superintendent Edward Hyatt urges school officials to use newspapers to publicize school achievements. He says newspapers extend reach beyond the schoolhouse and that publicity in print convinces the public more effectively than speeches, letters, or other efforts. He notes news items are largely believed and widely seen.
S. T. Hillis this week sent 19 head of horses and scrapers to the county road near Cajon. County supervisors and road commissioners arrived in Barstow Monday and left Tuesday for Needles in two county trucks. They inspected desert roads and returned to San Bernardino via Barstow and Bear Valley.
