Walkout at the Kelly Mine Demands $1 a Day Rise
In Randsburg on June 7 a walkout at the Kelly mine curbed work and production after workers demanded a one dollar daily increase and the discharge of a shift boss. Despite rumors, a compromise was anticipated as the mine’s expansion outpaces management. Other local mining notes describe Sunshine group progress, silver prospects, and milling plans plus social events and cattle shipping news.

Barstow PTA Suggested to Bridge Teacher Parent Gap
Barstow has been without a Parent Teachers Association long enough. Parents and teachers are strangers from term to term when there should be cooperation. The group aims to unite teachers and patrons to improve understanding and bond, reduce pitfalls for students, and discourage teacher migration from rural districts. Schools are out for summer, but PTA formation should start now in each district for the coming season.
