Danish Immigrant Emil Hansen Dies In Despair At Harvey House
Emil Hansen, born June 29 1880 in Denmark, committed suicide by slashing his left wrist at Harvey House after arriving on Santa Fe train No 17. He had tuberculars, left a note, and planned to die in Burke Idaho. Papers show marriage and a photo of a wife and four children. He belonged to Burke Miners Union No 10. A Union Pacific ticket to Burke Idaho was found and burial arranged with Barstow Undertaking Parlors.
