Henry Ford Gun Club Lakes Project Unveiled Near Mojave
W C Riggs awarded a contract to Art Doran to build five Henry Ford Gun Club lakes along the Mojave River near the Riggs place. The plan includes a two acre main lake feeding four smaller ponds, with access via good roads from Los Angeles and rail lines. Wild rice planting and ongoing stocking with turkeys pheasants and pigeons aim to attract birds for hunting and LA market supply.

The Hinkley Farm Bureau ladies held their regular meeting at the schoolhouse on May 29. A recent field trip to Lancaster with Mr Campbell demonstrated alfalfa methods, and local farmers began applying them. A Cleve land tractor was bought by E L Black, and Hodge and Mahnk visited Los Angeles to purchase a Light Six Sandwich baler.

Breakman Marries Popular Local Girl in Los Angeles
Miss Bernice Bradfield and James McCormick wed last Monday evening June 4 at the groom’s parents home 8576 East 5th Street Los Angeles. The bride, from Barstow, has lived at the Harvey House. Attendant Miss Early traveled from Barstow for the ceremony. The groom works the Santa Fe line between Barstow and Bakersfield. After a two week honeymoon in San Francisco, they will settle in Bakersfield where a home is ready for the bride.
