The final registration deadline is Saturday July 26 for the state and county primary election. Voters are urged to visit Judge Henderson immediately to complete the registration form and qualify to vote for the candidates believed most capable of serving their state and county interests.
Postmaster A A True has been on the sick list this week, with no further details given about his health or expected return date.
Mr and Mrs Harry Kelly and their sons returned Tuesday night from a two week vacation. They drove to Yosemite Valley and Sequoia National Park where a big black bear entered their tent and got into jam and honey on the camp table. Mrs Kelly recalls the scare and the trip home via Beaumont to visit Mr Kellys elderly father. Fern Thompson of Port Townsend Washington accompanied the family on the trip back to Barstow.
Barstow Branch of the San Bernardino County Free Library received a shipment featuring Death Valley the facts by W A Chalfant with thirty photographs and an end paper cartograph map. Also recommended are The Tragic Era by Claude GFsowers and The Meaning of Culture by John Cowper Powys, plus vacation reads Boys life of the Wright Brothers by M W Charnley and David Goes to Greenland by David Putman, reflecting varied history and adventure.
Department of the Interior notice lists Thomas Wallace of Hinksey California who filed for three year Soldiers and Sailors Proof on land in Lot 1 and 2 of NEW SEW Section 6 Township 10 N Range 4 W, 8.
