Mining Man Dies on Property Near Zabriskie

Frank B. Lewis aged 65 died on the Fourth near Zabriskie a station on the Tonopah and Tidewater railroad. Autopsy surgeon Louise H Bacon of San Bernardino ruled death by cerebral hemorrhage and heat prostration. Lewis had served as mine watchman for thirteen months. White and Platt conducted the funeral.

Fire blotches Fourth of July with furniture blaze

Fireworks sold despite bans lit two fires near the Paramount Furniture store in Barstow. Ogden Platt spotted flames and notified the fire department, saving the building with about 2000 dollars in damage. A separate hillside fire behind the furniture company led to quick extinguishment.

Miss Sadie H Young Leaves Hospital After Crash

Miss Sadie H. Young principal of Salt Lake City intermediate schools was badly injured when two Ford cars and a Dodge collided west of Barstow. She left the hospital and returned to Salt Lake City this week, per Dr. John Graham, her attending physician.
