Death of M. J. Smith in Barstow Highlights a lifes worth
The Barstow community mourns Milo James Smith a rancher hunter and trusted neighbor who died suddenly from natural causes including rheumatism and heart failure. The coroner ruled natural causes and a large funeral followed with tributes praising his integrity generosity and adherence to the golden rule. He was born September 10 1858 in Ravenswood West Virginia and spent the last sixteen years in California thirteen of them in Barstow. He lived a life of action and principle on frontier plains and in towns earning respect for honesty and help to others.
