Ed Lazenby and Harriet visit in San Bernardino on business. Mrs. French of Santa Ana visiting Chapin ranch in Hinkley. W K Mill ett improving at Loma Linda Hospital. Millett will visit Saturday. Sligby plans return to Mojave Valley. Al Burke had a rollover near second summit returning from a mine, uninjured though shaken. Lischke publishers visit from Santa Fe. Mojave Record reports Bert V Brown died after falling from a Santa Fe caboose. amputation performed in Bakersfield. Brown was resident of Bakersfield. Catholic women plan bridge and 500 in Barstow February 11 with Miss Lynn in charge.
Mr. and Mrs Argil Henderson and Mr and Mrs George Jordan of El Segunda along with Mr and Mrs Ed Hunt of Indiana spent the week end as house guests of Mr and Mrs F E West The Hunts and Wests are old friends with the Wests formerly living in Indiana H W Eichbaum seeks Railroad Commission approval to discontinue the Lone Pine to Los Angeles auto stage while continuing service to Lone Pine Stove Pipe Wells and intermediate Death Valley points
Betty June Tenney, four year old niece of Mrs. George Deskins, recited the "Shave Man" at the 20-30 Club meeting this week. J H Benson, local superintendent for Imperial Utilities, spoke on the ice and water supply and reported water pipes being laid and the new reservoir soon to start.
The annual senior project looms as Ogden Platt and Muir Funk enjoy a Sunday at Big O. Ruth LaJeunesse visits Leah Chapin's home, with horseback time blamed for a Monday limp. Ten juniors attend Colton with five named travelers. Junior Oratorical Class grows with many new members led by Mr Hurst.
Sophomores express relief after exams and wish Reginald Knaggs success in an oratorical contest. Delmas Donald Marvin and James Redman played on the teams that traveled to San Bernardino last Friday while Miss Spight hosted her mother and brother as weekend guests.
Ludlow residents hosted and traveled for social events and sports. The town hosted a large Saturday dance with guests from Bagdad Amboy Newberry Vermilion Barstow and Death Valley while Ludlow and Yermo teams plan an indoor basketball game. Several trips to Beatty Tecopa and San Bernardino occurred, with many friends and families visiting Ludlow.
A new board of directors was elected at the San Bernardino Valley Bank annual stockholders meeting in San Bernardino. T. S. Briocady was re elected president and J. E. Woods vice president. A J Weld was named director and Barstow branch manager, with Miss Ethel M Sell as assistant cashier. The board size dropped from 17 to 11, naming officers and directors from Barstow Needles and San Bernardino. Deposits reached 2 045 091 92 and resources stood at 2 257 467 86.
The California Committee on Public Safety proposes a statewide aggressive campaign to improve highway safety through education and legislation. A bill to require instruction in public safety and accident prevention in schools and as a graduation condition for teachers carries a $15,000 appropriation.
Hinkley R S Thorp of Oakland visited the Hawks home Tuesday. William Riley passed his Marine examination and is stationed in San Diego for six months before sailing to China. Mrs Ralph B Riley and daughter are wintering in San Ber Elbert Greenough returns home to Los Angeles after months with his aunt. Mrs W D Davies of Harper Lake hosted a son’s birthday gathering. Women of the Farm Panerau met at Mrs Barton’s Harper Lake. Mrs Walter Dewey and Miss Beverly spend two weeks at Hemet with Mrs Salmon. Mr and Mrs Roy Freer and family reside in Mrs M E Byrnes cottage while Roy assists in the store.
Announcement lists the Rose Inn now serving meals daily from noon until 8 PM with popular prices. Special meals offered on Sunday. Local residents and visitors are noted in brief social items detailing trips, visits, and outings among the Trenkle, Carlson, Serrano, Lopez, Carellar, and Lo families across Death Valley Beatty Barstow Ludlow and nearby areas.
