At the Kiwanis meeting the entertainment committee presented an engaging program led by Mike Ohe as attendance chair. Guests included Robert L. Carson, R M Tuttle, R L Dunlap, and Judge Jesse Olney. Dunlap discussed fire prevention while Carson screened educational reels showing forest fires from an airplane. Carson plans more screenings in Barstow soon.

The Barstow Woman's Club met Tuesday at 2:30 and heard Mrs. Wicker speak on Home Department. Mesdames Hart, Cooper, and Gliebe led the program while Jimmie and Nathel Weld performed piano duets. A mystery box was donated by Mrs. Beimer and Mrs. Zentmire won. The meeting adjourned until January 22.

Gaddie Santa Fe officer dies in Los Angeles
H E Gaddie popular Santa Fe special officer died at Santa Fe hospital in Los Angeles and was buried in San Bernardino Wednesday. The American Legion led services. he belonged to Richard Griffith Post Barstow. He leaves a wife and five children in San Bernardino. He came to Barstow two years ago and worked for Santa Fe as a special officer. Pallbearers included Joseph Ju Hickey William M Steen Lester Hootman H K Brewer L Burr Belden and R A Moore. Mrs J Foster sang at the service and interment was in Mountain View cemetery.

W. S. Winter former telegraph operator at the Western Union office died at his home Friday afternoon after a two year illness that included a nervous breakdown and a paralytic stroke. His wife cared for him. White & Platt prepared the body and burial occurred Monday at 2 30 in Forest Lawn cemetery Glendale. He was a Michigan native aged sixty six.

Barstow Pioneer George Drumm Dies Sudden Apoplexy
Barstow resident George Drumm, 1867 birth in Lyons Iowa, died suddenly after a morning furnace task at the Drumm hotel. Funeral services were held at the Elks Club San Bernardino lodge with Barstow pallbearers. He leaves a widow Mearla and a daughter Katherine, plus sisters in Long Beach and a brother in Arizona. He owned a barber shop and built the Drumm Hotel, later selling the shop to Ray Smith. Funeral followed at Mountain View Cemetery San Bernardino.
