The Gibbs purchase is the former Arnold ranch below the Chisholm ranch, bought from Lula Arnold Bowers of Monrovia, who lived there until 1913 and is sister to Mrs. Lazenby of Barstow.
Vernon Carter and Hazel Cascheer married quietly at 11 p.m. Saturday in Riverside. Hazel, daughter of Mrs. James MacDougall, and Vernon, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Carter, had a swift courtship ending just before the new year. After a stop in Barstow they headed to Bakersfield where the groom will work. The bride, employed by the Power Company, notified her mother by long distance and skipped work Monday.
