The Waterman Parent Teachers Association held its first meeting of the year in the Grammar School Auditorium. Miss Beauchamin of Yermo played Souvener, Mrs. Martin read a Wiggin paper, Mrs. Benedict sang two child songs, and a Bond piece was performed. The next meeting is the first Wednesday in February, and all are invited.
Prince of Em den a $10,000 Holstein bull owned by J M Stokes Temple Texas died in Temple. The senior and junior champion at the Tri State fair in Memphis last fall he had 11 first places for his owner and had been shown in many parts of the country.
The Barstow Antlers' Club hosted a Wednesday night dance in the Auditorium with Sunset Harmony Boys led by Herman Taylor at the piano. Comedian violinist Mr Fuller and ragtime banjoist Happy Proofrock, along with saxophonist Lockett, delivered lively dance music that drew about fifty couples and enthusiastic dancers who urged another event.
Sidney E. Branch, former Burstow resident, files for divorce in San Bernardino Superior Court from Minette Branch. He states she deserted him on September 16, 1921, six days after their wedding.
The B F Gauldins hosted a New Year dinner at their home on Sunday with guests James Read of Bishop a Gauldin brother in law Mrs W H Desking a sister Mis Alice Eppinette of Los Angeles a niece Mrs Geo Santha and mother Mrs Moore and sister Miss Gertrude Moore of Ludlow Mr and Mrs George Deakins of Barstow. Out of town guests stayed three days for a merry visit.
New Year’s Eve dinner at the George Deskins home honored 1922’s last meal for thirteen guests. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Desking and Miss Alice Eppinette, with several Los Angeles visitors and relatives from Tucson Barstow and nearby towns. The gathering marked a double celebration as Mrs. Wallace Deskins and George Santhu shared birthdays on New Year’s Day.
Minneola residents reported visits from Mr and Mrs Wm V Moore who traveled from Palmdale to reconnect with old friends. Mrs Moore, formerly Hazel Myer, taught at Minneola school and Daggett school in earlier years. Clarence Crooks of Barstow arrived for New Year’s Day calls. Ruth Burden of Water visited Amy Webber last Friday and Saturday.
