Barstow community trustees urge residents and railroad workers to fund a new Barstow Community Congregational Church building. About 20 supporters gathered as $1000 was pledged. a total of at least $15,000 is needed for site clearance, construction, and equipment. Donations may be paid weekly, fortnightly, or monthly through Mr. Weld at the local bank.
Mrs A H Pendleton returned Friday from Pomona to visit her mother in law. Dix Van Dyke of Daggett attended the Orange show as a visitor last Saturday. Howard Pendleton had a few days off from the meat market and travelled to San Francisco. Dr Varela Robles Miguel Romero and wife Jose Chavez Abundio Villatano Jose Carvajal and Mr Lak as traveled to San Bernardino Wednesday evening to enjoy the Orange show and the Tipica orchestra from Mexico City.
Mrs Verne Anderson of Bakersfield was a house guest over the weekend at the home of Mr and Mrs Otto Christianson.
The annual meeting to elect a school trustee for a three year term will occur on March 25 at the Minneola school house. Polls open from 1 PM to 6 PM.
T E Brooks reports his brother H T Brooks died in Tucson Arizona last Saturday after a four day illness with pneumonia. He was aged 21. The father and mother were prostrated by the loss. They accompanied their son T E Brooks home to Barstow.
Attorney Frank T. Bates and Trent Penland of San Bernardino were Bar stow visitors Thursday evening, mingling with local legal and civic figures and likely discussing community matters.
County executive for the Boy Scouts George H Walker visited Barstow on Thursday. He spoke at the Kiwanis Club meeting, joined by local Scout master Masier as host.
Dr H C Hall and his Pasadena wife will spend the weekend with Mr and Mrs E L White, detailing a social visit with local hosting and hospitality.
Miss Verda Haws returned Tuesday night from Los Angeles. Mrs Forst Dillingham and her children will motor into Los Angeles this week.

Wm. King is erecting a galvanized iron warehouse of 24 by 48 feet on the rear of the highway lots for Gilham's General Store. The project will be completed first, and then they will move from the old townsite.
E L White will attend the Orange show in San Bernardino on Friday marking his first visit to the event.

A special Chamber of Commerce meeting is scheduled for Monday night at 7 30 p m on February 28. Imperial Utilities Corporation representatives will discuss relocating company wells, a matter vital to Barstow and urged to attend by all residents.

The second meeting of the egg producers in this vicinity was held Tuesday noon in the Antler's Club. Reports showed lack of cooperation from local business men in distribution and consumption, with insufficient eggs for a depot but enough to meet local demand. A committee will solicit merchants to use only locally produced eggs, and a tentative meeting is set for Tuesday March 1 at the Antler's Club to decide further steps.
Saturday afternoon Nathelle and Eleanor Weld hosted 16 friends for a birthday celebration. Guests enjoyed outdoor games, then lined up for hats and cherries, followed by cake and ice cream in a dining room decorated with red crepe and an American flag. Attendees included Claire Zimmerman, Martha Hart, Andrey Hart, Helen Davis, Jean McClean, Armice Leak, Gladys Thursby, Roy Thursby, Maxine Henderson, Elina Platt, Lois Platt, Shirley Copp, Jimmie Weld, Nathelle Weld, Eleanor Weld, and Jimmie Weld.
E. E. Richardson a pioneer Victorville merchant and prominent citizen died in a San Bernardino hospital early Monday. He aged 86, born in Altoona Kansas, moved to California about forty years ago and lived in Victorville for 28 years, long active in the local mercantile business.
Carl Leonardt died early Monday at his daughter Mrs. Frank H. Powell home 687 South Oxford street Los Angeles after a short illness He had been ill for several days and underwent an operation at Good Samaritan hospital His death caused sorrow to friends in Victorville and to Southwestern Portland Cement company leaders Leonardt built a large local industry that supported the community providing direct and indirect employment The venture brought favorable notice to Victorville and Victor valley by its product and growth
Twenty eight Barstow women attended a gathering hosted by the Hinkley and Harper Lake Women s Club. The event featured Colonial decor, a luncheon, musical numbers, readings on Martha Washington, and a closing toast. The Barstow group pledged to reciprocate the hospitality.
The Barstow Parent Teachers Association hosted a social honoring Founders Day with performances by Grammar and High School pupils. The program featured Primary band first graders, Grammar school orchestra, Irish Lilt, Girls Glee Club, trombone duets by Earl Johnson and John Gliebe, Boys Glee Club numbers, a Margaret Thursby dance, and a community sing along. An offering supported the National Association. refreshments followed and praise for the organizing committee.
Miss L. Pfau recently enjoyed viewing the film Miracle now showing in Los Angeles last weekend.
