Barstow's largest business meeting elected officers for the Barstow Good Roads and General Improvement Association. EE Hillis became president, R M Dillingham vice president, C F Stauter secretary, and G C Compton treasurer. The group adopted aims to promote good roads, Barstow traffic improvements, and national road funds. A June Grand Canyon executive meeting was proposed with $50 delegate expenses.

Rich ore finds boost Providence group near Fenner
In Fenner area, Dennis Boylan and Sopkins report rich ore in the Providence group mines. The Pilot mine by Barnes and Raton will be worked to the limit with three shipments already sent to Needles. Lombard reports high grade vanadium and tungsten on a property 18 miles northeast of Fenner. A sale is pending on a small gold claim adjoining Providence, and a recent district sale of merit occurred without public notice. Cyclone visits Barstow on February 8 striking Buzzard Rock
A near cyclone passed north of Barstow Saturday February 8 and struck the river at Buzzard Rock. It tossed tin cans wood and corrugated iron in its path and attacked a hay rack belonging to R D Compton before moving on after gauging its weight.
