Producing Milk Under Modern Mojave Dairy Methods
A Mojave Valley dairy owned by W P Hodge near Barstow adopts modern milking and cooling practices. Cows pass tight tuberculin tests, receive electric milking, and are cleaned before milking. Milk is chilled to reduce bacteria, supporting long shelf life. Mrs Hodge oversees operations with help from Miss Hodge and local youths. State law requires cow examinations, farm sanitation, and pasteurization to safeguard health.
