Adelanto Sets Ambitious Poultry Growth Plans
Adelanto is rapidly expanding its poultry industry as 800 chicks in 1925 grow to about 15 000 chickens and 5 000 turkeys this year. The town aims for 20 000 chickens and 20 000 turkeys next year with new chicken and turkey plants under construction. Local pioneers pushed the industry past experiments, and businessmen Klusman Price of Ontario plan 4 000 turkeys in 1928 and 8 000 in 1929, with other facilities adding capacity and small plants forming. The community adopts the motto Turkey Town as it grows toward these targets.

Poultry Prospects Highlight Adelanto and Valley Resources
The Adelanto and Victor Valley area is pitched as a national poultry hub with abundant dry land, alfalfa and maize suitable for turkey farming. It argues feed locally grown can supply ration needs and that by products from creameries boost protein, making turkeys profitable even with full feed costs. A central Adelanto hatching plant would support community poultry growth and the planned operation extends to Page 27 for further details.
