Fire destroys the Judge Holloway home
News comes with a season’s greeting that the Judge Holloway home at Hesperia burned last Friday while the family was away. Cause is unknown. Holloway, deputy county assessor, had owned the ranch for years, a pioneer place once owned by A. M. Short, with scorched trees in the yard. He spends weeks in Barstow handling the desert district and has many friends who regret the loss.

Rossi Named Mayor as Rolph Successor
San Francisco Supervisor Angelo Rossi was elected mayor by the board, succeeding James Rolph Jr. Rossi will take office January 6 and serve the remainder of Rolph’s term until 1931. He secured 14 votes with two against. Power was absent at a Southern California resort. Frank Havenner and James McSheehy opposed Rossi’s election. Rolph resigns January 3 to become governor in Sacramento three days later.
