Improvements In The Town Of Rice In Progress
A new rooming house near completion is now operating under owner H. Biffle of Red Mountain with C E Wilson as manager. Road to Blythe from Rice is being graded and gravelled to avoid sand jams. Siegfried and White run a gold mining property seven miles south and have shipped ore to Hayden with positive results. Vidal Herald hints at a large payroll forthcoming nearby. Prospective businesses are buying lots ahead of a rush, with street numbers already in four figures. Supervisor Arthur L. Doran visited the town last week.

Ivanpah Station Abandonment Petition Filed
The Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad Company asks the Railroad Commission for authority to abandon its Ivanpah station in San Bernardino County citing insufficient revenue to justify upkeep. A Barstow branch bank ad mentions a Christmas Savings Account offering full return plus 4 percent interest.

Auto Crash Near Amboy Injures Michigan Man
Russell Wheaton received first aid from Dr J Graham before being taken to the county hospital after his car struck a freight train near Amboy at 11 PM Tuesday. He suffered a fractured hip. Wheaton, a single youth from Jackson Michigan, was driving home in rainy darkness when he failed to see the 28 car freight. The incident postpones until February first 1982 at two PM.
