B. Frank Butts and Supervisor Doran attended a meeting of the fair association’s directors in Victorville Wednesday evening.
Miss Carrie Robb of Pomona has been appointed pastor of the Free Methodist Mission on Second Street Barstow and will lead services Sunday August 25.
Inez Wilbur a third year medical student at the University of Michigan School of Medicine Ann Arbor will be in Barstow for six weeks assisting Dr. John A. Graham. She plans to return to Ann Arbor September 30.

The California Department of Public Works Division of Highways applied to the Railroad Commission for authority to build a state highway between Ludlow and Amboy crossing the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company at grade. In Chatham Ontario a seven year old boy named Donald McGregor sat on a switch rail as a locomotive approached. Opposition to a proposed Federal narcotic addicts hospital near Yucaipa and Redlands spreads to Santa Paula as Horace McPhee of Redlands writes in The Chronicle. He argues the facility would harm Redlands culture and safety, noting the University of Redlands board also opposes locating such a hospital nearby.
Architects prepare plans for a 90000 dollar Blythe hotel to be two stories with a basement, frame and stucco, covering 250 by 150 feet. The 60 rooms include four store rooms a lobby cafe coffee shop and a special cooling system, per the Journal of Commerce.
