Progress of Incorporation for Barstow Moves Forward

A Barstow incorporation delegation led by Lubin J. Henderson visited San Bernardino Monday, with the petition gaining 83 names while Needles received 107. The board of supervisors set August 25 for boundary review and September 23 for the mandatory election.

Capital stock set at 100000. Quarries about 25 miles south of Barstow to be developed with derricks and a mill near the railroad for cutting and polishing. The charter allows entry into the oil business.

Engine Loses an Axle in Barstow Yard Accident

An unusual accident in Barstow railroad yard on a Monday morning left Engine 1374 derailed after its trailer axle broke in two places inside the wheels. The eight inch axle snapped evenly as it sawed, a misfortune avoided only when the train was not moving at speed. A vest and union suit sale advertisement follows.

One Good Turn Leads to Recurrent Accident

F. O. Rogers, a switchman in the Barstow yard, dislocated his shoulder turning in bed Monday morning. Dr. Anderson sent him to No. 3 hospital. This marks the third such accident in two months, suggesting he should sleep in a chair. Suits at cost at The Novelty-Adver.

Louie Harmon Kills Large Wildcat West of Bagdad Mill

Louie Harmon, a local champion nimrod, killed a very large female bobcat west of the old Bagdad Chase mill. The animal appeared to have a nest of kittens nearby and was foraging when Harmon encountered it Sunday morning.

Missing wagoner in desert frightens Daggett area

Daggett and Vicinity reports a 75 year old Long Beach man, C Willetts, hired a team from Turner Son Victorville to reach Stoddard s Well. He went to Daggett for supplies and vanished leaving a dead horse by the wagon. Special officers and Willetts son search with no signs as of Tuesday night. Several locals mention other residents and events in the area including a Harmony Circle hall dance and various travelers.
