Several ranchers from west of the river were caught on the highway side and had to drive to the Wild crossing to get to their homes. It was the highest the river had been for two years, the west channel being full and overflowing. There was a cloudburst at Bryman earlier in the day that impeded traffic on the highway and railroad. A downpour on Tuesday washed across the highway and flooded the Helendale garage.
