Trustees Report On High School Bond Vote Returns
The official returns show 266 in favor and 304 against the bond issue from 570 voters. Trustees praised the district’s economy while noting Barstow and Victorville schools spend differently. Easter Sunrise Services Draw Large Hilltop Crowd
About seventy five people gathered for Easter sunrise on the hill with Miss Robb reading scripture and Rev J H Broad leading prayer. Young readers offered selections from God of the Open Air and Rev Reid gave a brief address. Music led by Mr Garver with Miss Broad Mr Whit ney and others. The Sunday school presented a well received program. At 6 16 Rev Reid will speak at the Junior C BE meeting and lead a joint Intermediate Society session.

Douglas Sayer Jr Killed in Auto Accident
Douglas Sayer Jr died after his car hit a house being moved along Avalon boulevard in heavy fog. Two flagmen warned him but he sped, ran twelve feet under the house, and died at the scene. Funeral was at Forest Lawn Glendale. He worked as a checker for California Transportation Co in Wilmington.

Mother of Hodge brothers laid to rest
Mrs. Annie E. Hodge died at her ranch home in the Hodge district after an eight day illness of pneumonia. Born in London Ontario she came to this district in 1911 with her family. She leaves five sons Gilbert Robert Nelson and two others in the east. Funeral services were held in San Bernardino and the cremated remains sent to Buffalo New York for burial.

Seven students competed for top honors and the winner will speak Friday against the China winner.
