St Johnsbury March 7 Rev Charles F Morse age 8 died Saturday after a surgical operation He was the operative force sent by the American board to Bulgaria where the dictionary of the language he compiled is still used by missionaries He graduated from Amherst College in 18 and studied at Andover Theological Seminary He married Miss Eliza Winter of West Boylston in 18 The couple went to Bulgaria for 14 years He preached in New England churches for 18 years He leaves a wife and many children and grandchildren Funeral services were held this morning.
Albany New York March 17 Gov Sulzer granted a reprieve to John Mulraney who awaits execution for the murder of Patrick McBreen known as Paddy the Priest at Sing Sing. Mulraney claims witnesses lied and asks further investigation while the governor directs the district attorney to review the case. A second note records the marriage of Mr and Mrs John Wilson at Bethel, the couple having remarried after a prior divorce.
