The federal commander at Monterrey Mexico received a report that General Tracy Aubert routed Carranza forces at Monclova and pursued the rebel retreat toward Bustimont. The loss of life is reported as heavy.
Chicago March 15 A strike vote by about 6000 local Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen members began yesterday in yards of nine railways. Officials expect results by Tuesday mainly to gain overtime and single-rate wage terms. The request is not for general pay increases.
In Washington on March 15 more than three thousand night school pupils will be barred from classes as Congress failed to appropriate funds for the program. The adult students rely on these evening classes to continue their education and job preparation.
Washington March 15 Officials of the Isthmian canal commission foresee embarrassment if Congress fails to provide an appropriation for canal work. Mrs Mary Scanlon Sullivan widow of James Sullivan died at 7 40 PM at her daughter's home 57 Berlin Street after a two week pneumonia illness. She leaves two daughters Sister Wencelaus of Holy Angels Academy in Buffalo and Sister Rommable a student at Catholic University Wellington D C and sons Sullivan of Barre and Michael Sullivan of Cadyville N Y. Her husband died October 9 1912. She was a member of St Monicha Church. The remains were taken to Fess where the funeral will be held Monday at St James Church with burial in that town.
Oren H Hale of Barre and Byron P Greene Jr of St Albans filed for bankruptcy in the United States court. Hale lists debts of 11545.21 with 500 exempt. Greene reports liabilities of 800 and assets of 100 with exemptions claimed.
Edward Sage of Rutland survived an obituary scare sparked by a Georgia mystery. A man buried in Calvary cemetery was misidentified as his brother John Sage of Huntgay Conn. A keyring bearing Edward Sage Rutland was used to link the two cases, but time and uncertain ties made identification impossible.
George Mesanatti and Cousin Charles Charter faced rising waters when Stevens Branch flooded into the basement of the Walted Fruit store on North Main Street. Mason F. Ceter, a longtime resident born in Orange County, died after a lengthy illness. He served in the Th Vermont Regiment as a youth, later studied at the University of Vermont, practiced law, and held a Colorado state senate presidency from 1887 to 1891. He lived in Beaver after movin g from St. Albans and was connected with Grand Army circles.
West Tretticterna resident Clark fired at his neighbor through a window with a revolver while the two argued in a Brattleboro bar. The wounded man was rushed to Memorial Hospital for surgery after the bullet lodged near the thigh and an X ray was used to locate the projectile.
