Boston March 14 Mrs Violet Moers a manicurist was shot three times and gravely wounded at a shop in the shopping district A man identified as B Olmstead of Newtonville admitted shooting after a dispute over a three year acquaintance He was arrested on a charge of assault with intent to kill A nurse said Moers may die Another manicure Miss Keith M Haines testified Olmstead appeared with a revolver threatened to shoot Moers and fled when the customer ran The motive centered on a broken arrangement Two bullets went wild Olmstead 40 married with two children is in custody
Keith E. Dalrymple heir to a fortune of 100 MW returns to Port Alleghany Pa after an eight year disappearance. He says he wandered the country earning odd jobs and will not discuss details. Disappeared at 15 while visiting Dr and Mrs Charles Palmer at Lajone Springs Ark. Found in a Missouri state capital after a letter claimed he was sick. Local and national messages questioned his identity, now settled as the heir.
A laborer named Kayes plunged into the rough Connecticut River twenty feet below falls during a work shift yesterday afternoon. He suffered serious injuries with a fractured ankle and exposure, while coworkers Samus Guillow and others aided his rescue from the water.

Concord reports town meetings and special elections in cities with direct presidential primaries. Four Republican at large delegates faced four unpledged candidates while Frank H. Culley of Manchester pledged to Roosevelt. No Democratic or Progressive contests. one Democrat backed Wilson.
Winnipeg reports show a dry victory in yesterday's referendum on the Manitoba temperance act. Returns from rural districts indicate the measure passes with a June first closing of 200 bars, 42 wholeade liquor houses, and seven clubs.
Boston March 14 Anom Retkovits was electrocuted at the state prison for the Fall River murder of Mrs. Domba Premebida. He professed innocence to officials and penned letters to his Russian-born parents. Ten witnesses, including prison officials and clergy, saw the execution.
El Paso March 14 Francisco Villa heading south is now encircled by Carranza troops with 15,000 men in Chihuahua and heavy reinforcements on the way. General Luis Gutierrez, commander in chief of Chihuahua, says Villa has small chance to escape as American troops have not left the territory since the first dash.

Mrs Hattie E Colby widow of Henry H Colby from Washington died of heart disease at her Montpelier home. Born November 14 1854 in East Orange she was the 8th of 12 children of Ransom and Annie Birkey. Funeral likely in East Orange with interment in the family lot.
Washington March 4 reports indicate Austria submitted counter claims to the United States alleging Austrian ships were torpedoed by British submarines. The note cites seven Americans who escaped from the Norwegian bark Sirius and says Germany would make complete amends if it’s found its submarines torpedoed the Sirius.
Havre reports from the Norwegian bark Silius crew to the Associated Press claim the submarine torpedoed the ship without warning. Seventeen aboard included seven American youths making their first voyage. Louisiane was within a hundred yards and the Silius sank after the liner. Crew members recount overwork and fatigue before the attack.
The March term of Washington county court opened at Montpelier at 10 o clock with Judge Butler presiding. Of 42 cases listed 33 were set for trial while several were passed for later. Many civil cases were continued settled or discontinued and a few filed motions or demurrers were handled as the term began.

Washington County mourns age worn lawyers with news of Jobe H. Senter’s memorial service in the afternoon and the death of Thomas Jefferson Deavitt a Montpelier attorney aged 85 after two weeks illness and long heart disease. Deavitt born Richmond 1840 practiced in Moretown then Montpelier, served as constitutional convention delegate and bank founder. He married Caroline Harrington in 1870. five children survive along with siblings and relatives. Funeral arrangements pending word from son William J. Deavitt in Texas. funeral likely Saturday.
