Fine Victory in First Game of the Northern League

Barre Montpelier crush Burlington 7 to 1 in a hot Saturday opener at the focal ball grounds. Sheldon pitched superbly, holding Burlington to five hits while Montpelier Montpelier-Barre pushed across seven runs. Epworth League Convention Plans Vermont Program

Tragic Fire Kills Young Girl In Village

A severe thunderstorm struck the village near Chester yesterday. Mrs. Borrows and three children escaped with injuries while a four year old girl died in the blaze. Clothing was burned from the victim as flames spread through the scene.

Funeral for Mrs. William Jackson Held in South Barre

The funeral of Mrs. William Jackson was held yesterday afternoon from the late home in South Barre. Lowe officiated. The house was crowded with mourning friends and boys including Lan, Orvis, and Fred Persons. Interment was in Hope Cemetery in this city.

Child suffers hand injury in straw cutter accident

The four year old son of Frank Belleville of Graniteville injured his left hand yesterday in a straw cutter mishap. The second of the band nearly severed, Dr. McArthur sutured the finger and hopes the patient will recover.

Murderer Electrocuted at Sing Sing Prison

Ossining New Jersey June 27 Frank Hi Gurneas sailor who murdered the captain of the Gr B Townsend aboard the schooner In Brooklyn last November was electrocuted at Sing Sing prison this morning. Four shocks were required before death was pronounced.
