Phelps Must Die Death Penalty Upheld by Supreme Court

Reston, June 22. The Supreme Court upheld the murder conviction of Silas N. Phelps, 38, for Ammett F. Haskins's death at Phelps' Charlemont home. Phelps will die in the electric chair. He stabbed Deputy Penman after a discharge from Munroe papdy company. Sheriff Haskins and a posse pursued, Phelps fired, and escaped before being captured. The court overruled numerous exceptions challenging admissibility of evidence and a warrantless entry claim.
