The Liberty Loan drive closed with oversubscription of at least 25 percent as thousands of small investors rushed banks to subscribe. The massive total reflects broad public support against the Kaiser and marks a landmark funding effort for the war.
Washington reports a tremendous over subscription to the Liberty loan with final totals likely between 2.5 and 3 billion dollars. All federal reserve districts except perhaps Atlanta and Kansas City topped their minimum allotments as thousands of small investors queued at banks. Early indications showed the total subscriptions at least 2.5 billion, an overt subscription of 25 percent.
New York June 14 trading in Liberty loan bonds began on the New York stock exchange at noon. Governors decided to list the bond for dealing in favor of the present. The initial transaction was above par. A $10,000 lot sold at par and one fiftieth and the next lot of 4200,000 sold at par.
Boston reports that New England subscribed to the Liberty loan totaling about 255 million dollars, with early 10 40 a m figures showing subscriptions around 47 500 000 and officials estimating the district would exceed 8 255 000 000 as the total.
New York district reports subscriptions reaching 852,000,010 this morning with heavy activity ongoing. Officials expect New York's share of total funds to exceed 81,000,000,000 as the drive continues.

The Spaulding high school 1917 class held its graduation day in an opera house setting with the largest senior class in history. Decorations in gold and white featured the class motto Not for self but for country and a Liberty bond gift to the school. Dan McDonald an 18 year old yesterday fell ill with infantile paralysis in Websterville. He developed fever and partial paralysis, affecting both leg and arm before improving. The house is quarantined and precautions are in place. another child in the family remains healthy.
