Russian report from St. Petersburg via Lido Yang says a minor clash near Port Arthur ends with a Japanese battle ship sunk and Chinese and Japanese forces suffering heavy losses. The dispatch notes 4000 men and four war vessels lost, with torpedo boats possibly among the sunk.
Japanese divers removed two mines at Talienwan Bay and found wrecks of sunken vessels identified as the cruiser Boyurin, sunk in February. The operations, conducted amid enemy activity, yielded mines and wreckage later detonating during clearance efforts.
