Thomas B. Funes, a veteran of Worcester and member of the Sixth Maine Volunteer Regiment, died yesterday. Born in St Albans VI, he served in the Shenandoah Valley and later belonged to Geers H. Wordret, A RB of Worcester. He was connected to local units and remained active in veterans circles.
Florence Stosing a 14 year old from South Glens Falls New York was found near Castleton by Henry Langdon. She said a man lured her from Glens Falls to Hudson Falls and Fort Edward then to Rutland where she was kept in a room until escaping. No arrests yet. state officials may act.
Umpire McTimanwell faced an angry crowd after a Twin-State League game where Keene won 6 to 4. Fans pelted the field with apples as security escorted the official to a Keene auto truck. A boy was trampled but not seriously hurt.
Fire destroyed the old Baptist hall in Pittsford last evening. The structure erected in 1800s and remodeled years ago for public use had $2,000 spent on renovations after being bought by Merritt W. Clifford of New Haven. Household goods of E. A. Stevenson of Florence were also burned. Firemen assisted to protect a nearby dwelling past midnight.
Eugene Harvey, son of Mr and Mrs Eugene Harvey of Moody farm, jumped from a speeding hayrack injuring his right arm. Dr G S Bidwell found no fracture but prepared to reset the bone if needed. After effort he aligned the arm without breaking it. the boy was improving and expected to recover quickly.
At St Johnsbury on July 29 the state convention of the Prohibition party convened to nominate the state ticket. Speakers included Rev. William Shaw of Montpelier and Rev. B B Philips of Dubuque, alongside Dr L W H E Howard of Montpelier and other party leaders. The gathering focused on presenting the gubernatorial candidate Clement South of Morrisville and other nominees for statewide offices.

John Howrivan of Essex Center died from injuries after an automobile tipped over during a crash near Underhill. Burlington July 20 five checks totaling 56 dollars were passed in two weeks by a man and a woman the police are tracing. The checks drawn on the Chittenden Trust Co were in favor of various persons one signature by E. Booth a leading businessman was a forgery indicating one forgery.
Mrs. Alexander Bissett died suddenly of heart failure at home in Websterville while about her work. She was 41, born in Woodside Aberdeen Scotland and married in Aberdeen to Alex Riesett. They came to America 31 years ago living in South Carolina, Westerly and finally Websterville where they resided 12 years. Survived by husband and five children Mrs Walter Bordick Westerly R1 Mrs William Gilbert Dowagine Mich Mrs Bella Percy Bridgeport Conn Alex Bissett Jr Westerly Rob Forbes Bissett Websterville and one brother William Barker of Woodside Aberdeen Scotland. Funeral service will be held at the house at 8 tomorrow night Rev Fred McNeil Presbyterian pastor of Granitevill officiating and body will be taken to Westerly by 11 15 train that night for interment.
The Bancroft inn in Plainfield opens to the public after the old Plainfield house burned on New Year's. The three story hotel offers twenty guest rooms including six with private baths, private telephones, electric lights, and steam heat. Bancroft of Pawtucket built the hotel. he grew up in Plainfield and has a long business presence there.

The funeral for Frank L. Place was held yesterday at 1:30 PM at 140 North Avenue Burlington. Rev J Staples officiated with Vincitta lodge No 10 Knights of Pythian Barre in charge. Lodge members and many Barre visitors attended, burial at Lake View cemetery.
