Brigadier General Funston informed the War Department in a dispatch from Washington on July 7 that Huerta forces experienced mutiny before the American outpost at Vera Cruz. The Mexican commander warned of mutineers threatening to attack American lines, and Funston said any such attack would not be considered an act under orders.
Word of a revolt among many federal troops along the Vera Cruz front reached conspiratorial agents late last night. Carranza envoy Campero sought Funston's permission to move mutinous troops away from American lines but was denied to preserve the armistice and U S neutrality.
In St Paul on July 7 the National Education Association debated woman educator support and rural library funding. President Swain urged living wages for teachers and voting rights for women teachers while Andrew Carnegie funds could back a rural library program of up to 75 million dollars. Officials say it marks the fastest water lift for the America, with further testing expected to improve planing and takeoff performance for the Azores flight.
President Wilson faced the resignation today of George Fred Williams, the American minister to Greece and Montenegro, amid his outspoken criticisms of Albania and European conditions. Williams said he could not comment fully under diplomatic restraint and could not conscientiously stay silent on actions he knew.

Louis Eiamian pleaded not guilty when arraigned in a We district court yesterday. He was charged with abducting Fern Hallinan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H Mallinn of tanks. Bond was set at 1.00 and he remained at a Hinghare yen station pending further action. Hallinan’s chauffeur, Eames, was arrested Saturday in Portland, Me, on fraud charges connected with Miss Hallinan.
In Charlestown jail inmates sent Governor Welsh 288 dollars for relief of Salem fire sufferers. The fund grew with additional amounts received by the treasurer, totaling 195,151 dollars. This gesture expresses sincere appreciation from the prisoners.

In Shlisbury Meaty 7 Joseph Darby and George Slopexotin white men were jailed after pouring kerosene on Benjamin Goslin colored 71 and setting fire to his clothing. He died minutes later. The men claimed it was a practical joke after drinking together. Goslin had been friendly with them prior.
Burlington hosts the annual Vermont education association meeting at Queen City Park. A. W. Varney presides with state Superintendent M. S. Stone, Governor Fletcher, and Dr. Bo A. Winship addressing delegates. Three sessions daily focus on state educational policy.

Lyndonville July 7 Henry N Charland 27 of the town was instantly killed yesterday when he touched a live wire while working for the Lendenville Electric department. He was placing a knob on a tree and his ungloved hand contacted the live with. He is survived by his wife three children and his parents Mr and Mrs Cyril Charland of Lendonville.
Proctorsxave reports broad vandalism in three nearby homes. Victims include Ton Dwyer of Providence RL and George Woodward on Tarbelleville road toward Weston. Dwyer home ransacked with broken furniture, dishes and soiled linens. Woodward residence and Fletcher house suffered similar depredations. Authorities suspect an insane intruder but have not identified the culprit.
Cavendish July 7. A railroad express safe at the Rutland line station was entered by forcing a railroad spike under a window. About 88 dollars belonging to the express company was taken, the money placed in a book drawer and apparently overlooked. Station Agent Stimets notified Deputy Sheriff Lockwood who investigated and flagged suspects. a 23 year old stranger in black cap and blue overcoat loitered around Friday morning but vanished after the break was found.

Other items included a master’s report on water supply contribution in a Northfield case.

Police are seeking the perpetrator of a graveyard assault on seven year old Eva John, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Amce Join of 40 Prospect Street. The child was lured on July 4 along North Main Street and Brook Street to Hope Cemetery, where she says the man forced her to accompany him to the burial ground. Authorities have kept quiet about the case to aid the investigation as attempts to identify the suspect continue.
In Montpelier city court yesterday Frank Thomas, released from county jail last Saturday, returned from St Albans and pleaded guilty to intoxication and reentered jail. A man named R. Smith of Marre pleaded guilty to a large intoxication offense and agreed to pay 2 and costs after being ordered off the State House grounds.
Walter H Young recently of Peekskill New York was selected as head of St Johnsbury school. The board of trustees and local officials met July 7 to confirm the appointment. Corwin F Palmer and other city representatives noted the selection amid concerns about school policy and funding.
Lewis H Podge aged 54, a machinist long out of work, shot himself in an upper room at 36 Shaw Avenue East Braintree. His wife found him on the floor with the revolver bearing a sale tag. He had travelled to Boston day before and is believed to have purchased the weapon. Dr. F H Trike declared death probably instantaneous.
Claremont NH police chased suspect through Vermont after a dawn attack on two men on River Street. Victims Tony Walkovich and Mike Kerasmo were head and face injuries and robbed of money. Aleck Soudnich and Foam Soudnick named in the report with alleged involvement.
