Early today in Baltimore two people died when an auto skidded and overturned at the Druidhall Park entrance. George L. Billups, Pinilleo Hotel proprietor, and his wife were instantly killed. Lan H. Shad, owner and driver, was internally hurt but not fatally.
In New Britain Connecticut on January 18 William McAvoy and Thomas Kelley died when a 90 foot tank under construction collapsed. A third man clung to a rivet and survived as the rope broke and the seafold toppled, injuring others on the staging.
Rio de Janeiro January 18 reports the torpedo boat destroyer repairing gear and Hop fine for Chief of Operations as the Flotilla readies for a rapid voyage to the Magellan Straits. The plan may include a stop at Buenos Aires as diplomatic tensions with Brazil surface over earlier neutral moves.
