Armed man fires threat gun at Rutland officers
In Rutland on Saturday night Charles Sargent, son of a former local proprietor, kept Officers Kennedy and Thomas at bay with a loaded high powered rifle aimed at them from a room above while they attempted to arrest him for threatening Nancy Noyes. After a struggle officers overwhelmed him and removed the weapon to the police station where it was unloaded in front of witnesses. State’s Attorney W. Paulin obtained a signed statement from Mrs. Noyes.

Release From Asylum Sought In Washington County Court
The Washington County court resumes after a one week recess to hear a petition to release Charles H Thompson from the state hospital for the insane where he has been confined since 1903. Thompson, of Waterbury, was convicted of an offense in county court and sent to Waterbury because of insanity. State's Attorney Fred F. Cheason appeared for the state.
