Nine workers were hospitalized with serious burns and foreign officials noted a total loss near one million dollars.
A Jugo-Slav committee in Paris protested the supreme council decision to admit delegates from Serbia while denying the Serbo-Croatian-Slovenian state. The note warns the move could spark conflict and bar Serbia from participation, urging a reevaluation of Serbia’s new situation.

Brandon farmer Juling Slawson, about 65, killed himself at his south village home yesterday. A move from Sudbury to the Nimme farm followed poor health. Survived by wife Mia, son Clarunce Slawson of Sudbury, and three daughters. He belonged to St. Pauls lodge No. 25 FA AM and Farmora RA M, Brandon lodge IOOF. A hired man Manley Leard found him.
Paris dispatch reports the supreme council plans a meeting at 6 p m to exchange views on publicity methods among press representatives and national delegates. Russia issue to be discussed later. Wilson arrives with Mrs Wilson and secretary.
All American ships held by the United States Shipping Board during the war have been released to their owners. Ships used by the army remain in service or are fitted out for troop transport until their return is completed. Assistant director A B E Clery said the fleet would be turned over at once, with on voyage vessels released upon return to the United States.
Paris January 16 Marshal Foch arrived in Treves for talks with German armistice delegates on extending the truce. He received Martin Ereberger and General Von Winterfeldt in his private car as discussions began. No result reported, but continuation was anticipated.
London reports the Turkish garrison holding Medina has capitulated to the Hedjaz king under the Turkish armistice. The delay in surrender reflected communication hesitations with Constantinople. Amir Abdulla, the Hedjaz king's envoy, entered Medina publicly at 11 am Monday amid cheering crowds.
Rio Janeiro Brazil January 16 Dr Rod Thyme Alves president elect of Bazil died today after a period of critical illness. He had just received the Catholic church’s last rites. A constitutional election will be held to choose a new president.

Ottawa announces the safe arrival at Viadivostok of the troop ship Protesitans. The militia department notes more units are scheduled to come, with over 200 officers and about 10,900 men assigned to convoy home from France as of January.
South Ryegate reports a third death in a week as Ernest Ingram dies from influenza and related complications. Roy White and Fred Mow were the other victims. illness is widespread among local doctors and residents. Ingram, born in Barre, moved here 15 years ago to work in the era ite industry and leaves wife Alwenhe Brown and three children. Funeral plans are not yet set.
Washington reports the State appropriation committee ordered a favorable report on the House bill to appropriate 100000 dollars requested by President Wilson for food relief in Beuyeowe amid little opposition.
The Vermont Senate adopted a resolution ratifying the federal prohibition amendment by 24 to 4 after a lengthy session. The governor’s message to the House followed, with Belknap proposing a joint committee to study the action and no referendum bill presented.
