Mrs. Mary Field Hadley of Brattleboro died after a brief illness at 87 High Street. She was the widow of Hun nib, who operated a meat market here for many years. Born in the town she was the daughter of David and Patsy (Wood) Field and formerly taught school. For 78 years she belonged to the Congregational Church and knew local history. She leaves two daughters, Emily Himerson and Elizabeth Sellvyk, both of Brattleboro. Associate Members of Orange County's Advisory Board include B. Pritcham, Flint, Brewkheld, and others listed in the Orange County board notes.
Concord New Hampshire December 26 The state supreme court overruled the exceptions of counsel for Frederick L Small and refused a new trial. Small, sentenced to be hanged January 15, for the murder of his wife Arlene Small, whose body was found Sept 29 1916 in the cottage at Ossipee after a fire. The court held the trial court’s actions lawful and rejected objections to evidence and to language used by the attorney general. The motive was alleged as collecting a $204 life insurance policy. The jury imposed death, the capital punishment under New Hampshire law for such atrocious crimes.
Mrs Elizabeth McDermont Tilden wife of Charles B Tilden died at home on Prospect street Monday night after months of failing health. She leaves two sons George N Tilden and Arthur Tilden a granddaughter Marion Tildes and her brother James McDermott of Brookfield. Born January 15 1846 in Scotland she moved to America with her family in 1856 settling in Northfield where she married April 16 1888. Funeral service will be private at the home with Rev John Boray officiating and interment later in Elmwood cemetery Northfield. Flowers omitted.

Officers chosen include President W D Ingalls Richford and Vice President Lt Egeleton Rutland. tournament opens with defending champion W C Hoag Burlington aiming to repeat amid a strong entrant list from Barre Montpelier Richford Randolph and other towns.
William Diack a long time granite cutter and worker at Sarre died at his home 1 Pleasant Street Taradale after a long illness. Survived by wife and four children and several brothers sisters. Born in Remway Scotland March 28. Funeral to be held at his house Friday afternoon with interment in a nearby cemetery.

Funeral held at the home of her son O J Dodge on ibm street Tuesday afternoon officiated by Rev J R Reardon. Pallbearers included Frank E Dodge, Dodge brothers, Frank Bacon, and Charles Be in. Interment in Elmwood family lot. Out of town attendees included Mrs Fred Houston and Frank Becon.
Milford Mass December 26 Granite cutters from Webb Pink Granite Milford Pink Granite Noreraas Brothers F G Kerr Logan Judge and Hagan Duddy have agreed with their employers on a 10 percent wage increase effective now and a further 10 percent raise on April 1 1920.
In St Albans on December 24 a hearing led to parole for tailor Bloch who had been arrested November 26 on allegations of threats. The naturalized German-born veteran, with family in New York City, may have parole revoked at any time. The case was referred to U S District Attorney W A Bullard of Burlington after action recommended by District Attorney Bullard.
Hollister Jackson, county manager for the Red Cross campaign, said the final county total would be around 4 500 with 4 088 as the county quote. Actual returns and estimates placed Barre City leading with over 20 000. Montpelier near 700 and Barre Town around 626. Receipts and figures from towns include Barre Town about 550, Millrehired and Plainfield listed among the towns in the tally.
