A five ton truck with granite from Jenna Brothers of Barre broke through a wooden bridge over the White River near South Royalton and overturned into the water. In Rutland on December 4, Joseph Regan, about 60, was buried under coal while clearing a jam from a car over a receiving pit. The car slid onto him, trapping him several feet down as workers attempted rescue with shovels. He survived but suffered severe exposure and injuries. no bones were broken.
